Nepal SBI Bank begins Construction Works for Beautification of Fewa Lake

Nepal SBI Bank Ltd. (NSBL) has started construction works of Fewa Lake Beautification Project. Mr. Siddhartha Sengupta, Deputy Managing Director of State Bank of India, Mumbai, laid foundation stone for the construction work, amidst a ceremony held today at Barahi Ghat, Fewa Lake, Pokhara. The ceremony was held with Bhumi Pooja by Brahmins followed by Swasti Bachan and Mangal Dhun.



Fewa Lake Beautification Project is being undertaken by the Bank in partnership with Pokhara Sub-metropolitan City (PSMC) as an outcome of its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with PSMC on 4th September 2016. As per the MOU, the Bank will carry out construction of at least 13 resting sheds (Gazebo) alongside the existing foot track of Fewa Lake, WC/Toilets, Drinking Water Outlet and Banking Terminal (CDM/ATM/Banking utilities) for domestic and international tourists and beautify the area with flowers and greenery.

Besides, the Bank has already renovated and beautified the Rescue Tower at Barahi Ghat. The regular cleaning and maintenance of the amenities developed by the Bank will also be carried out by the Bank up to 5 years. The entire costs to be incurred for the Project will be borne by the Bank. On the occasion, the Bank also handed over water storage tank, warm clothes, school bags and stationery items to Star Children Home, Pokhara.



Addressing the Ceremony, DMD of SBI, Mr. Siddharth Sengupta said that Nepal SBI Bank will continue to contribute Nepalese society with more effective CSR activities in future as well. Regional Administrator Mr. Khagaraj Baral appreciated the CSR efforts of the Bank and urged other business enterprises also to join hands for beautification of entire Pokhara city.  The Chairman of the Bank's Board Mr. Krishna Prasad Acharya said that the Bank has begun Fewa Lake Beautification Project as it always considers participation in social activities as part of its duties. Chief District Officer Mr. Hari Prasad Mainali emphasized on the role of local community towards beautification of the town. Chief Executive Officer of Pokhara Sub-metropolitan City Mr. Navaraj Dhungana said that the Fewa Lake Beautification Project being undertaken by Nepal SBI Bank shall be a model project for other corporate houses.


The ceremony was also graced by Mr. Sujit Kumar Varma, Chief General Manager, SBI, Mumbai, Mr. V.K. Tyagi, General Manager, SBI, Mumbai, high ranking officials of Nepal SBI Bank including Mr. Anukool Bhatnagar, Managing Director & CEO, Shri Subhakanta kanungo, Chief Operating Officer & Dy. CEO, Shri Priya Ranjan, Chief Financial Officer and representatives of various local government offices, business community, and other local stakeholders.


Fewa Lake Beautification Project is being carried out by the Bank as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
